This week, we checked in with the 21-year-old Wood to discuss her upcoming Woody Allen movie “Whatever Works,’ and couldn’t help but ask whether she recalled any “Twilight” talk from all those years ago.
“I don’t remember,” admitted the 21-year-old Wood. “For some reason, I just remember Catherine talking about a vampire movie at one point. It had to be [Twilight], but it was so long ago I don’t know if it was the same one.”
With Wood being an old friend of Hardwicke and Reed, we had to wonder if she was ever considered for the highly-coveted role of Bella – which, as we all know, went to Reed’s BFF Kristen Stewart.
“No,” admitted the actress, who was last seen working alongside Mickey Rourke in the Oscar-nominated film “The Wrestler.” “We never talked about it.”
These days Wood seems to be doing just fine sans “Twilight,” as she’s snagged roles in a string of recent highly-acclaimed films including “Across the Universe,” “The Upside of Anger,” and the upcoming “Works” opposite Larry David and Patricia Clarkson. And although she told us she still remains close with Catherine and Nikki, the busy actress hasn’t found the time to read Stephenie Meyer’s bestselling romantic-vampire series.
“[I’ve] never read the books,” Wood confessed.
It looks like fans will soon have the chance to see Wood as a blood-sucking vampire, however, even if she won’t be hanging with the Cullen clan. Earlier this week, Wood joined the cast of the HBO series “True Blood” for a two-episode stint on its upcoming second season. Perhaps Wood will give her “Twilight” homies a little competition as she tries her hands at playing a 500-year-old French vampire queen on “Blood.”
